Lock Picking Course
Station 2 - Kwikset Pin Tumbler Deadbolt (2)
Which way to turn?: With deadbolt locks, you usually turn away from the bolt to open the lock. So, for the locks in this course you would be turning clockwise.
Try Scrubbing: Insert your wrench (short end) into the keyway. Apply a light torque. Insert your snake shaped rake. Lightly scrub or rake the key pins.
Didn't Work?:
All the pins jammed: If all the pins are jammed then you are pushing too hard on the keypins or are applying too much torque.
None of the pins caught: If none of the pins caught then you are not pushing hard enough on the keypins or you are not applying enough torque.
Practice: Try again. If you get it open, try to remember how much force you were using on the keypins and how much torque you were applying to the plug. If you are stuck, take a break and try later or ask someone who was successful how they did it. Once you get it, try to increase you speed.
