Lock Picking Course
Station 1 - Preliminaries (1)
Tools: You have pick tools right? If not, I would recommend that you get some. You can read the material but lock picking is something that you learn by doing not just by reading.
Sources for Tools: "Spy" Shops (look in the yellow pages), on the Web like www.lock-picks.com (no affiliation)
What Tools: To start, get the smallest, least expensive set. At a minimum it should include the tools used for this course. Which include:
A Snake Shaped Rake
A Hook Shaped Pick or A Diamond Shaped Pick
A Wrench
There are lots of tools with different shapes but these are, probably, the most used for pin tumbler and wafer type locks
Inspect Your Tools: What sort of pin movement would you expect from each shape? Check out the weight and spring of each tool. These features will effect how you use each tool.
